Harry Kane has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur's squad for Sunday's Premier League opener with Manchester City.
The England captain only returned to full team training on Friday after travelling home from his tropical holiday, with speculation over a move to Man City continuing to intensify.
A report late on Saturday claimed that Kane was set to make himself available for the visit of his admirers, although Nuno Espirito Santo would make the final call over the 28-year-old.
Tottenham's official team sheet showed no sign of Kane in the starting XI or among the substitutes, and a report from The Athletic claims that the striker was not deemed fit enough to face the Premier League champions.
Santo has instead opted for Son Heung-min to start through the middle in his first Premier League match in charge of Spurs, while Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga and Dele Alli also feature from the first whistle against Pep Guardiola's men.
Kane was previously forced to deny reports claiming that he refused to turn up to pre-season training in a bid to force a move through to Man City, who are supposedly planning to relaunch transfer talks over a nine-figure swoop for the forward next week. body check tags ::
