Togo are hoping that Emmanuel Adebayor will make a return to the international fold this Friday when their World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway against Guinea Bissau.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker has not represented his country since January 2010 when he decided to call time on his Togo career following a gun attack on the team bus during the African Cup of Nations.
However, the Togo Football Association are keen for the 27-year-old to help them reach the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"The president of the FTF, Gabriel Ameyi, had a long discussion on the telephone yesterday with [Adebayor]," read a statement on the Togolese government's website. "The probability is strong that he will play in the match against Guinea Bissau."
Adebayor has made 42 appearances for Togo and has scored on 18 occasions.
