Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Clive Allen has insisted that Harry Kane deserves his PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The 21-year-old, who has scored 30 goals so far this season, was recognised by his peers at a ceremony in London last night.
Allen coached Kane when the youngster joined Tottenham's academy, and the ex-forward believes that he will only go from strength to strength during his career.
"He deserves it, he has had a fantastic season and I'm sure he has a big career ahead of him. Every challenge that has been put in front of him he has faced and come through them," the 53-year-old is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"He had some loan periods that didn't go as well as he would have liked and had injuries to deal with as well - but they have been the making of him. It has been a meteoric rise for him this season. It has been a case of perseverance; he has worked really hard."
Tottenham are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they welcome champions Manchester City to White Hart Lane.
