Atletico Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino to take over when Diego Simeone decides to leave the club.
Simeone's future with the La Liga giants has come under scrutiny recently after it emerged that his contract was shortened by two years to expire at the end of next season.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Simeone has indicated to the Atletico board that he intends to move on this summer amid links with the top job at Inter Milan.
Pochettino's work with Spurs, turning them into viable title contenders in the last few years, has attracted the interest of Atletico as they prepare for life after Simeone, while rivals Real Madrid have also been monitoring his situation.
Earlier this year Spurs chairman Daniel Levy tied down Pochettino to a new lucrative long-term contract running until 2021, although the terms of his deal mean that he could terminate it early should another club come calling.
