Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that his side deserve their position in the Premier League table.
Spurs lost 2-1 at Manchester City on Sunday after goals from Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko cancelled out Steven Caulker's opener.
The results leaves the North Londoners in seventh place in the table, and Villas-Boas is adamant that his side deserve to be there.
"We are where we deserve to be. What is happening at the moment is that the top teams are escaping. Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are on for the title but they take three Champions League spots but the rest of the pack is very tight," Villas-Boas told talkSPORT.
"Fixtures such as this one against the champions are very difficult and if you get something out of it.
"We were more balanced in the second half and found some good gaps but it's a pity that in the end we didn't get what we deserved."
Next up for Spurs is the North London derby at Arsenal on Saturday.
