Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder "disappointed" with Tottenham Hotspur draw

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder claims that he and his players were "disappointed" to have only come away with a point from their Premier League clash with Spurs.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has admitted that he and his players were "disappointed" to have only come away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a draw this afternoon.

The Blades more than held their own against Spurs throughout the course of the contest but fell behind to Son Heung-min's strike shortly before the hour mark.

George Baldock's equaliser ensured that the newly-promoted outfit did pick up a point, although it could have been even better for the visitors had they not seen another goal controversially ruled out by VAR for the most marginal offside in the buildup.

The result lifts United up to fifth in the Premier League table, and Wilder was particularly pleased with his side's refusal to let their heads drop after seeing that initial equaliser disallowed following a lengthy check.

"That's a hugely pleasing thing and not something I'm surprised about in terms of my team and the approach that they have and the attitude of the group," Wilder told reporters after the match.

"Even [after] a disappointing first goal from their point of view - it's a mistake from Enda [Stevens] who has been amazing for us, so it wasn't a goal that was crafted or a passage a play that opened us up. We recovered from that to get ourselves what we thought at the time was back on level terms, but that wasn't to be because John Lundstram's big toe is bigger than it should be.

"I believe we deserved something out of the game and I should imagine a lot of people in this stadium, if they looked at the game in general, would believe that was correct. It's a terrific performance from our players. I think the position we're in - we've got 16 points from 11 games, can the boys afford to have a day off?

"People will say Tottenham were favourites to win, I totally get that and there is no disgrace in getting beaten here because they're a really good side, but I asked that question to them before - 16 points looks alright after today, that's a great effort, but are we happy with that? And to a man it wasn't, and I'm a bit disappointed, and they are in there, that it hasn't gone from 16 to 19."

Sheffield United have still lost just one away league game throughout 2019 so far, the joint-lowest figure in England's top four divisions alongside Liverpool.
