Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has heaped praise on his side's performance during this evening's 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.
Gundogan ghosted in unmarked from a corner to score the opening goal and set City on their way to a record-breaking 16th consecutive Premier League win which takes them 14 points clear at the top of the table.
The result sees City march on towards what looks like being an inevitable title triumph, and Gundogan was also pleased on a personal level, having scored his first goal since returning from injury.
"It was an incredible performance. We are happy to beat a team like Tottenham. I was a bit surprised that I was free (for his goal from a corner), I guess the Spurs players didn't know I am strong at that," he told BT Sport.
"I have been through tough times so especially games like today where you are able to improve your self confidence are very important. Today was a good day."
City have still dropped only two points all season, and have made the best start to a top-flight campaign in English football history.
