Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane: 'Arsenal result is crazy'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane confesses that his side "should have been more clinical" against Arsenal, having almost been pegged back in the dying embers.

Matchwinner Harry Kane has described the slender nature of Tottenham Hotspur's victory over Arsenal as "crazy" after coming out on top 1-0.

The Premier League's top scorer found the net for the only goal of the game four minutes into the second half by leaping highest in the box and nodding the ball past Petr Cech.

Kane was guilty of missing another good opening and chances also came and went for Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Kieran Trippier, which almost proved costly as Arsenal enjoyed a late spell of pressure.

Having seen through the danger to move seven points clear of their North London rivals, however, the England international - now with 23 league goals to his name this term - hopes to maintain the feel-good factor around temporary home Wembley.

"It was a great game, we really played well, especially second half we had plenty of chances after we went 1-0 up," he told Spurs TV. "It's crazy it finished 1-0 but we'll take it. In these big games you just need that first goal and the spaces open up and you get more chances.

"That's what happened, we should have been more clinical, we know that, but we played very well. We kept them quiet until the last five minutes when they piled on the pressure. But overall it was a good day.

"It's massive, it's a big stage in our season and we've come out in flying colours. We've got good momentum, the Champions League coming up, which we're looking forward to, then we've got to keep it going in the league."

After facing Juventus in Turin on Tuesday night, Spurs then head to Rochdale in the last 16 of the FA Cup five days later.
