Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that he can take the club even further both domestically and in Europe after committing his long-term future.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he is delighted to have committed his future to Tottenham Hotspur after signing an extended five-year deal.

The Argentine has been linked with a switch to Manchester United in recent months following an impressive season at White Hart Lane, which will end with the club in their highest-ever position in the Premier League.

Pochettino was always adamant that he wanted to stay at White Hart Lane, though, and he has now officially signed on the dotted line to remain in place until 2021.

"I could not be happier to sign this new contract," he told the Lilywhites' official website. "The club has all the ingredients to continue to challenge at the very top in both the Premier League and in Europe. We want to be here to be a part of what I believe will be a special period in the club's history.

"We have enjoyed a great season and we believe this is just the beginning. We have a long-term project and huge belief that we can achieve something big here for the future."

Pochettino also praised the club's fanbase, while at the same time vowing to take Spurs forward following this season's near miss at the top of the English top flight.

"The supporters are unbelievable," he added. "We have assembled a great group of players with huge potential that can get even better, while the facilities we have are world-class.

"We also have an incredible new stadium to look forward to and now we are determined to build a side worthy of playing in such an exciting new venue."

Spurs, who also confirmed this afternoon that Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino and Toni Jimenez have agreed fresh terms of their own, head to Newcastle United for their final game of a memorable campaign on Sunday afternoon.
