Schalke 04's Max Meyer has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign him during the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined the club's youth academy in 2009 before making his first-team debut in 2013.
Meyer has previously been linked to Liverpool, but according to the player, Spurs were the club to make a move for him in the summer.
"I know that there was interest and the club was asked, but Schalke immediately put a stop to it. So the matter was settled," Meyer told Bild.
"Of course I've dealt with it. I know what I have at Schalke and I like to play for this club."
The German footballer comes to the end of his current contract in 2018.
