Newcastle United will be hoping to set a new club record in the Premier League when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.
The Magpies have enjoyed one of their strongest starts in the top flight for a number of years, collecting 18 points from their opening 11 games.
Although six of those matches have ended in draws, Newcastle currently occupy sixth spot in the standings, just five points adrift of second-placed Manchester City.
Eddie Howe's side now put a six-match undefeated streak on the line against Spurs, who have won their last eight league fixtures at their home ground.
Furthermore, Spurs recorded a 5-1 victory in last season's corresponding game, and Newcastle are regarded as the underdogs ahead of their visit to North London.
However, history suggests that Newcastle enjoy travelling to face Spurs on away territory with 10 wins coming from this contest since the creation of the Premier League.
Should Newcastle prevail at the weekend, they will set a club record for the amount of times that a single opponent has been defeated away from St James' Park in Premier League fixtures.
As it stands, Spurs and West Ham have been beaten on the same amount of occasions, with the equivalent meeting with the Hammers yet to be rearranged since it was postponed in September.
Newcastle are also attempting to win consecutive games in London for the first time since 2019, that double-header coincidentally seeing triumphs come against Fulham and Spurs.
Howe has already witnessed his team record a 4-1 success at the former earlier this month. body check tags ::
