Mauricio Pochettino: "The reaction after going out of Europe has been fantastic"

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he is proud of their performances since exiting Europe after they beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he is very proud of their performances since their exit from Europe two weeks ago.

Spurs beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 on Saturday to move to within three points of the Premier League's top four and have won both league games since being beaten 3-1 on aggregate by Fiorentina in the Europa League

Pochettino said at his post-match press conference: "I'm very proud of our performance, we showed big character against a difficult opponent and on a difficult stage. We showed today the way that we play and the character we have.

"The way QPR play is long ball and on the edge of the box, they have strength in the air through Bobby Zamora and Charlie Austin, but we handled it.

"The reaction after going out of Europe has been fantastic. It was difficult after the defeat against Fiorentina. I think the response has been fantastic from the squad in the big games that have followed. We have to go away and now train hard to focus on our next match against Manchester United."

Harry Kane continued his impressive run of form by scoring both Spurs goals, and has 26 strikes for the season in all competitions, but Pochettino refused to be drawn as to whether watching England manager Roy Hodgson would call him up next week.

He added: "It's difficult to say anything else about Harry, his performance today shows his strength to keep working. It's Roy Hodgson's decision if he plays for England or not, but all of us here in the Tottenham family are happy with him."

Spurs travel to Manchester United next Sunday, with the Red Devils currently in fourth place in the Premier League.
