Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is his player of the year so far because he is a "top quality talent".
The 21-year-old has impressed this season and managed to add to his goal tally at the weekend by scoring twice in Spurs' 2-1 victory over North London rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
"If you stopped the season right now, there would be four players in contention for player of the year - Cesc Fabregas for the purists, Diego Costa for his power, Alexis Sanchez for his impact and Harry Kane for his all-round game," Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.
"For me, it would have to be Harry Kane, but it's time to forget the story around him. Yes, he is a homegrown star, Tottenham's first since Ledley King. Yes, he plays like a fan on the pitch. But he is so much more than that now. He is a genuine, top quality talent."
Kane has scored 22 goals so far this season.
