Danny Rose: 'Emmanuel Adebayor like a new signing'

Spurs left-back Danny Rose praises the attitude of recalled striker Emmanuel Adebayor and admits that his return to the team is helping Roberto Soldado.

Danny Rose has revealed that Emmanuel Adebayor's renaissance at Tottenham Hotspur has been a breath of fresh air for the club and Roberto Soldado in particular.

The Togolese frontman was exiled by ex-Lillywhites boss Andre Villas-Boas, but has been restored to the first-team fold by new manager Tim Sherwood, scoring four goals in five games since his recall.

Left-back Rose, who has recently returned to the team himself following three months out with a foot injury, has claimed that Adebayor's attitude has always been exemplary and admitted that his performances in Sherwood's 4-4-2 formation have taken the pressure off goal-shy Soldado.

"No disrespect to Andre but playing one up front has been a bit frustrating and hard for Soldado at times," he told reporters. "It is nice that he has got a bit of help up there with Adebayor.

"He has been like a new signing. He has scored four goals which is brilliant for us. Considering he didn't play a game from pre-season until a few weeks ago, his energy levels have actually been brilliant.

"There were no questions about his attitude during his first season under Harry Redknapp and I can't speak for last season because I wasn't here. When I came back pre-season, his attitude was fine. Obviously there was a bit of a disagreement between him and Andre but it is finished now and we are all grateful he is back in the team."

Soldado has scored just one open play goal in 18 Premier League starts, but has netted four times from the penalty spot and a quartet of goals in European competition.
