Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi has hailed the fight shown by his teammates after a hard-fought away win at Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.
The Magpies went in a goal down at the break after Emmanuel Adebayor nodded Spurs in front, but Ameobi got his side back level within seconds of the restart, racing onto a through-ball and poking home past Hugo Lloris.
Young Spaniard Ayoze Perez completed the turnaround when he rose highest to meet a Moussa Sissoko cross, and Ameobi has praised the hard work put in by the former Tenerife forward.
"Ayoze has been brilliant since he joined, it was tough for him in the first half up front on his own against two big centre-halves but he pushed through and got his goal and we are really happy for him," the 22-year-old Geordie told talkSPORT.
"We knew we were under the cosh a little after a poor start to the season, we have had to stick together and fight and we've done that and we've ended up with two wins from two games - hopefully we can kick on now.
"We are going to take confidence from this, hopefully we can take that to Manchester City and anything is possible if we go out with the right attitude. We are looking forward to it."
Ameobi has been praised by manager Alan Pardew for his contribution in an "unbelievable win".
