Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement expressing their condolences to Jermain Defoe after discovering news of the death of his father.
It emerged this morning that the striker had left the England Euro 2012 squad after learning of his father's passing last night.
A Spurs statement read: "Everyone at the club sends their sincere condolences to Jermain and his family."
The Football Association have confirmed that Defoe will return to the Three Lions camp in Poland and a replacement will not be called into Roy Hodgson's side.
