Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has said that Tottenham Hotspur can compete with the best teams in the Premier League and challenge for the title this season.
Yorke was speaking in the wake of Tottenham's 2-0 away victory against Aston Villa, in which Andros Townsend and Roberto Soldado scored either side of half time.
"I think, when you look at their strength attacking-wise, they've got a lot of players going forward and that's their strength in the team," Yorke told Sky Sports News.
"Defensive-wise there is always going to be a question mark there but they certainly are title contenders and if they continue this vein of form, with players like Defoe who can come into the team and Lennon coming back now, I think they've got enough in their locker.
"Whether they believe it or not is a different question and I'm sure AVB will be trying to implement that into the squad and hopefully see where they get. I certainly think they can compete with the best in the Premier League."
Spurs are now fifth in the Premier League following their victory, having played eight games this season.
