Sergio Aguero scored all four goals for Manchester City on Saturday as they kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea with a 4-1 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine striker gave City the lead on 12 minutes, but Spurs equalised just two minutes later through Christian Eriksen.

Aguero put the hosts in front once again on 19 minutes from the penalty spot, though he saw a second spot kick saved by Hugo Lloris before the break.

Spurs had a glorious chance to level things up on the hour after referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot for the third time, but Roberto Soldado was denied from 12 yards by Joe Hart.

The visitors were made to pay as Aguero made it 3-1 with yet another penalty after Federico Fazio had been sent off for a foul on the forward, and City's talisman completed the scoring on 75 minutes to give his side the points.

MAN CITY

Goal

Joe Hart: City's goalkeeper put in a fine display between the sticks, pulling off a handful of key saves and vitally keeping out Soldado's penalty at the start of the second half to keep the hosts in front. (8/10)

Defence

Gael Clichy: Had little work to do at full-back as most of Tottenham's attacks came through the middle, but remained solid throughout alongside his defensive colleagues. (7/10)

Martin Demichelis: Was harshly punished when he gave away a penalty, but was ultimately redeemed by Hart's save. Worked well with Kompany to stifle the visitors for large parts of the game. (7/10)

Vincent Kompany: The captain organised those around him with his trademark authority and made life miserable for Soldado by keeping the Spurs striker at bay. (7/10)

Bacary Sagna: Did not need to venture forward too much as those in front of him did most of the work in the opposition half, but made a decent contribution at both ends of the pitch when necessary. (7/10)

Midfield

James Milner: A typically tireless showing from Milner, who bombed up and down the left flank all afternoon. Frequently got involved high up the pitch and was unlucky not to find the net late on when his shot hit the post. (8/10)

Frank Lampard: Won a controversial penalty for his side early on, but his impact was limited before he was forced off with a leg injury midway through the first half. (6/10)

Fernando: Was at fault for Tottenham's goal when he was dispossessed in a key area, though he recovered well to anchor City's midfield from deep until he was substituted on 75 minutes. (7/10)

Attack

David Silva: As usual, Silva pulled the strings for the Blues with his slippery movement and clever passing. Spurs struggled to get a grip on him and they were made to pay. (8/10)

Sergio Aguero: The Argentine was rampant, scoring four goals on an afternoon that will live in the memory. He bullied the visitors with his pace, power and aggression, and he could have had a fifth goal were in not for his penalty being saved by Lloris. (10/10)

Jesus Navas: Made plenty of good runs down the right flank and showed little fear in taking on Danny Rose and getting into the Tottenham penalty area. Linked well with Silva and Aguero to create a dangerous front three. (7/10)

Substitutes

Fernandinho: The Brazilian was called upon early to replace Lampard and he did not disappoint in midfield with his usual blend of passing and power. (7/10)

Stevan Jovetic: Failed to make an impact on the match after being introduced with around 20 minutes left to play. (5/10)

Yaya Toure: Came on for the final 15 minutes and strode around the midfield with typical style and aplomb. (7/10)

SPURS

Goal

Hugo Lloris: One of Tottenham's better players on the day, Lloris had no help from his defence during a difficult 90 minutes. Kept his side in the game by saving Aguero's penalty, though it counted for little in the end. (8/10)

Defence

Eric Dier: Put in a solid performance at right-back, but looked ragged by the final whistle as City remained relentless. (6/10)

Federico Fazio: Appeared out of his depth for most of his Premier League debut and was punished for some sloppy defending in the second half when he was sent off for a foul on Aguero inside the box. (5/10)

Younes Kaboul: On a day when Spurs needed a leader at the back, their captain struggled to cope with what was going on around him. Questions must be asked as to whether he is the right man to lead the team. (5/10)

Danny Rose: Was given a tough time by Navas down the left and failed to deal with Spaniard effectively. (5/10)

Midfield

Nacer Chadli: Linked well with his teammates high up the pitch as Spurs occasionally looked dangerous, but he did not have a big say on the match. (6/10)

Etienne Capoue: Had to work hard in midfield as City dominated, though he ultimately did not do enough as Pochettino withdrew him on the hour. (6/10)

Ryan Mason: The youngster provided Spurs with energy in central areas and almost opened the scoring early on when his stinging drive was saved by Hart. (7/10)

Christian Eriksen: Remained dangerous throughout the 90 minutes with his clever runs and eagerness to push forward. Took his goal well by smashing the ball into the roof of the net following a counter-attack. (8/10)

Erik Lamela: The Argentine's inconsistencies were there for all to see yet again as he failed to keep up with the frenetic pace of the match. (6/10)

Attack

Roberto Soldado: Time must surely be running out for the striker after yet another disappointing display. Offered Spurs little as the lone striker and missed a penalty that would have made it 2-2. (5/10)

Substitutes

Moussa Dembele: Came on with 30 minutes remaining, but he did not do enough to shake things up for his side. (5/10)

Andros Townsend: Made a positive impact when he entered the action on 60 minutes, running at City and trying to make something happen for the visitors. (7/10)

Jan Vertonghen: Was introduced late on the shore up the Tottenham defence, only for Aguero to score his fourth of the match. (6/10)
