Tottenham Hotspur gave their top-four hopes a big boost on Saturday with a thrilling 4-3 win at home to struggling Leicester City.

Harry Kane scored twice inside the opening 15 minutes for Spurs, but Jamie Vardy pulled one back for the visitors at the end of the first half.

Wes Morgan then drew Leicester level just 10 minutes after the restart before Kane sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to put Tottenham back in front just after the hour.

The home side's victory was secured with five minutes left as Jeffrey Schlupp put through his own net, though a late strike from David Nugent set up a nervy finish.

TOTTENHAM

Goal

Hugo Lloris: Lasted less than two minutes before he was forced off due to a collision with teammate Walker. (5/10)

Defence

Kyle Walker: Did not always look completely in control at right-back as he was caught out on a handful of occasions by Leicester's quick counter-attacking play. (6/10)

Eric Dier: Gave more of an assured performance than against Manchester United. However, he also found it difficult to contain the visitors when they pushed forward. (6/10)

Jan Vertonghen: A strong reaction following on from Tottenham's drubbing at Old Trafford was needed from the Belgian, who instead was his usual underwhelming self at the back. (5/10)

Danny Rose: Bombed up and down the left flank, helping his teammates out in both attack and defence. Won the penalty that effectively sealed the victory for Spurs. (7/10)

Midfield

Ryan Mason: Struggled to control the game from midfield in the way that he has so often done this season. His dip could be down to tiredness following a long season. (5/10)

Nabil Bentaleb: Added a bit more bite in central areas than Mason. Mixed it up well when Leicester were threatening to win the game. (7/10)

Andros Townsend: Another hit-and-miss display from the winger, who wasted a glorious chance in the first half. Came off with just under an hour played. (5/10)

Christian Eriksen: Gave Spurs plenty up front when he was in full flow. Drifted in and out of the game, though he was an important part of the win in the end. (7/10)

Nacer Chadli: Not one of the Belgian's more memorable matches. Got booked in the first half for diving and missed a couple of decent opportunities in front of goal. (5/10)

Attack

Harry Kane: Capped a fine week by scoring his first Premier League hat-trick. Took all of his goals well, proving that he is lethal inside the 18-yard box. (8/10)

Substitutes

Michel Vorm: Was solid enough between the sticks after replacing Lloris so early in the game. Was little he could have done about Leicester's three goals. (6/10)

Paulinho: Injected a bit of dynamism in Tottenham's midfield when he came off the bench with an hour played. (7/10)

Mousa Dembele: Only had a couple of minutes to help the hosts see out the game and did exactly that. (6/10)

LEICESTER

Goal

Kasper Schmeichel: Had a couple of dodgy moments as he made his first start since December. His first touch in particular left a lot to be desired. (5/10)

Defence

Ritchie De Laet: Did not always have a great deal to do as Spurs attacked from the other side of the pitch. That said, he was found lacking when Leicester were put under pressure. (5/10)

Wes Morgan: Scored a good goal to get the Foxes back level at the start of the second half, but he could have commanded more when the visitors needed to be organised and disciplined. (6/10)

Robert Huth: Performed solidly and was unlucky to have deflected the ball into the net for Tottenham's second goal. Came off with 15 minutes remaining. (6/10)

Matthew Upson: Did not offer the away side a great deal at the back before he was subbed during the interval. (5/10)

Midfield

Jeffrey Schlupp: Suffered a cruel blow late on when he accidentally put the ball through his own net. Anchored Leicester's midfield well up until that point. (6/10)

David Nugent: Worked hard out on the right side, setting up one goal and scoring another. Took his own brilliantly, lashing a superb half-volley past Vorm from 25 yards. (7/10)

Matty James: His set pieces were important to the Leicester cause and he also linked well with his teammates in midfield. (6/10)

Esteban Cambiasso: Showed great stamina throughout. Kept running from box to box before he was withdrawn with five minuted left to play. (7/10)

Attack

Leonardo Ulloa: Posed a constant danger up front and could have got himself on the scoresheet were it not for some disappointing finishing. (7/10)

Jamie Vardy: Did not always make life difficult for Spurs, but his goal got the visitors back into the match. (6/10)

Substitutes

Marcin Wasilewski: Could have found the net after coming off the bench at half time. Gave no quarter to the opposition forwards. (6/10)

Riyad Mahrez: Failed to add the sparkle that he was supposed to during the final 15 minutes. (5/10)

Andy King: Gave Leicester a different dimension in midfield towards the end of the game as they looked for a point. (6/10)
