Tottenham Hotspur score late on to secure all three points in a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur have returned to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a late strike from Christian Eriksen to secure a 2-1 victory against Swansea City this evening.

For the fourth time this season it required a goal at the death for the North London outfit to claim all three points on the road, after initially squandering a first-half lead at the Liberty Stadium.

The visitors made a dream start to the contest, edging ahead inside the opening four minutes when Harry Kane headed beyond Gerhard Tremmel following some slack defending from the Swans.

Wilfried Bony forced Hugo Lloris into making a save down low shortly after as the Welsh outfit looked to level things up, while the Ivorian again caused problems for the Spurs backline when he was slipped in by Jefferson Montero.

However, he was denied a shot on goal from close range by a superb sliding challenge from Ben Davies - who was making his first appearance at the Liberty Stadium since leaving the club in the summer - as Tottenham withheld the pressure.

Tottenham also had further openings to add to their advantage, with a buoyant Kane flashing an effort narrowly wide from long range, but Mauricio Pochettino's charges continued to leave themselves wide open at the back.

Having come close to finding an equaliser shortly before the half-hour mark, only to be denied by a combination of Lloris's point-blank saves and the official's offside flag, Bony saw a big chance come and go shortly before the interval when his first-time shot inside the area was blocked away.

Much like their opponents in the first half, Swansea managed to find the net in the opening stages of the second when Bony finally found a way past Lloris to bring the sides level.

Some good work by Wayne Routledge down the right allowed him to pick out his teammate, and after initially being denied by Federico Fazio right in front of goal, Bony pounced on the rebound to fire home.

Both sides went in search of a second; Spurs coming close through Ryan Mason's effort which deflected narrowly wide, while Gylfi Sigurdsson unleashed a shot which ended the wrong side of the post against his former side.

The Swans, who have been somewhat inconsistent of late in the Premier League, almost fell behind once more when Kane connected with Eriksen's set-piece delivery at the near post, although the youngster's effort ended inches wide.

But the visitors did manage to win the game in the final minute of normal time when Eriksen found a way through, picking up the ball on the edge of the box and firing low into the bottom corner to salvage all three points.

The dramatic win sees Tottenham climb up to seventh in the table, leapfrogging Swansea who drop down to ninth.
