Three late Tottenham Hotspur goals help Mauricio Pochettino's charges to a 3-1 win over Swansea City in Wednesday night's Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City have fallen to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, who scored three late goals to snatch victory in Wednesday night's Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans were under pressure from the off as the visitors hoped to get off to a bright start in a bid to keep the title race alive, with Chelsea taking on Manchester City on the same night.

However, Paul Clement's charges enjoyed a bright spell and won three corners in quick succession before taking the lead in the 11th minute when Lukasz Fabianski's long upfield punt found Jordan Ayew, who saw off Ben Davies and cut the ball back for Wayne Routledge to drill home.

Spurs came close to immediately replying in stunning fashion when Dele Alli plucked a cross out of the air, juggled it in the box and attempted an overhead kick, but the ball flew over the bar.

Despite the visitors' dominance, they were unable to make anything of it in the final third and could not find a way past a resolute Swansea defence come the half-time whistle.

Each side had a penalty shout waved away by referee Jon Moss just after the restart, Ayew going to ground after turning past Toby Alderweireld before Son Heung-min saw a shot from six yards out deflected wide by Federico Fernandez, who had his arm outstretched as the ball hit his side.

Spurs continued to flounder in front of goal and the players' frustration was on show as they could not penetrate the Swansea backline, resigning themselves to tame long-range efforts.

However, the latter stages of the 90 minutes saw the hosts' composure slip as Tottenham upped the pressure, and eventually the visitors were able to get on level terms through Alli, who tapped into the unguarded net after Christian Eriksen's shot had deflected into his path.

If that was not heartbreaking enough for the Swansea players and fans, it would get much worse as seven minutes of stoppage time were announced, which proved enough for Spurs to grab another two goals and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Son struck in the 92nd minute, sliding the ball beneath Fabianski from six yards out after being set up by Janssen, and Alli's fine ball was steered into the bottom corner by Eriksen two minutes later to cap a remarkable Tottenham turnaround and secure a fifth league win in a row.

The result keeps the second-placed North Londoners seven points behind Chelsea in the Premier League table after the Blues won 2-1 against Manchester City, while Swansea slip into 18th place after Hull City claimed a 4-2 win over 19th-placed Middlesbrough.
