Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou reveals that he has held a "good chat" with striker Harry Kane amid Bayern Munich's continued pursuit of the England captain.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he held a "good chat" with Harry Kane as speculation over the striker's future continues to rage.

The England captain is yet to pen an extension on his existing Spurs terms, which are due to run out at the end of next season, and Bayern Munich's desire to bring him to the Bundesliga is no secret.

The German champions are already believed to have failed with two bids for Kane, who would supposedly be open to a move to the Allianz Arena, and Daniel Levy has held subsequent talks with Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Manager Thomas Tuchel refused to directly confirm his side's interest in Kane when questioned, but honorary president Uli Hoeness has talked up Bayern's chances of prising Kane away from Spurs this summer.

However, Levy remains steadfast in his position that Kane will not be sold under any circumstances this summer, and the 29-year-old is said to have been left impressed with Postecoglou's early impact at Tottenham.

After touching down in Australia for their Asia-Pacific tour, Postecoglou was unsurprisingly grilled on Kane's future during a press conference, but he insisted that their conversation was not "earth-shattering".

"Question one, eh? I had a good chat with Harry. As I said before (in his first press conference), nothing earth-shattering or defining from I guess what people are seeking," football.london quotes Postecoglou as saying.

"Just a good chat. I introduced myself and we spoke mainly about the club and where he thinks it's at and where he thinks we can improve things. (We've been) training ever since, it's been good.

"It's not a specific vision for one person, it's about the group. Me and Harry were perfectly aligned in that, we want to see a successful team this year. The reality is we have a bit less than a month before the season starts, the transfer window is still open for a while, so we'll see how it all transpires."

Despite Hoeness's public comments, Postecoglou continued to cut a relaxed figure over Kane's future, and the Spurs boss does not expect the striker to be fazed by the rumour mill either.

When asked if Bayern's pursuit of Kane and Hoeness's comments were bothering him, the Australian added: "Me, personally, no. No one has spoken to me from Munich!

"There hasn't been a discussion. There are a lot of people that know Harry better than me but he's not going to get fazed by anything. He's here and while he's here, he's totally committed to what we're doing.

That's that way I've seen things. In terms of me, it has zero impact on me. If other clubs want to talk about our contracted players, that's more of an issue for them than us.

"Since the last press conference I haven't had a discussion about it. Until the next one, I probably won't mention it again, which is fair enough. It's where people outside the group are more focused on."

Kane has travelled with Tottenham for their pre-season tour, which sees the Lilywhites face West Ham United in Perth on Tuesday before clashes with Leicester City and Lion City Sailors in Thailand and Singapore respectively. body check tags ::
