Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he will be given money to spend in the transfer window regardless of if his side earn Champions League football.
Spurs are currently in a London battle for a place in the Premier League's top four, with two spots in Europe's elite competition being fought out with Chelsea and Arsenal.
However, should they miss out on third or fourth, the Portuguese boss still predicts that he will have funds available to him.
Asked whether Tottenham's owners will be scarce with the cash if his side finish outside of the top four, Villas-Boas said: "No. At the moment our future must be analysed in only one direction.
"For us, the objective is always to improve the team and for that to happen either we have Champions League money to make it easier, or we have to invest and risk a bit more. But the objective is always to better what you did last season. We have to have one direction only."
Spurs beat Southampton 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
