Barcelona have reportedly not given up hope of signing in-demand midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.
Barca had been regarded as favourites to sign the 21-year-old at the end of the season, but recent reports have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain are now on the verge of completing a deal.
The Ligue 1 outfit are understood to be the only club to have met Ajax's asking price of €75m (£66.4m).
However, Marca reports that Barca are now considering increasing their offer despite knowing that they would be second-best in any bidding war with PSG.
De Jong has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Premier League teams such as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
City are understood to see De Jong as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, although manager Pep Guardiola has played down the possibility of paying big money for a defensive midfielder.
