Manchester City are believed to have told Emmanuel Adebayor that they will not be agreeing to subsidise his wages to allow him to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The two clubs agreed a fee for Adebayor last month but contract talks have reportedly stalled because the 28-year-old, who currently earns £175,000 per week, is unwilling to take a pay cut.
Adebayor wants City to pay the proposed transfer fee directly to him, but manager Roberto Mancini would rather keep the player and play him in the reserves, according to The Metro.
City payed Arsenal £25m for Adebayor in July 2009.
