Ben Davies has said that Gareth Bale "is a joy to play with", but admits that he is unsure whether he will link up with his international teammate at Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale has been tipped to return to the Premier League at the end of the season following a six-year spell with Real Madrid, who he joined from Tottenham for a then-record £85m.
Manchester United are considered the favourites to land the 29-year-old should he quit the Bernabeu, but Tottenham have also been tipped to make a move for their former player.
However, Davies, who regularly plays in the same side as Bale for the Wales national team, has downplayed the possibility of his compatriot making a return to North London.
"I can't comment on him coming to Spurs," Davies told reporters ahead of Tottenham's clash with Borussia Dortmund. "I don't know if that is possible.
"With the national team he is a leader, he sets the example on the pitch and he is a joy to play with."
Earlier on Tuesday, Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett suggested that Madrid supporters should be "ashamed of themselves" for jeering his client in Saturday's El Clasico loss to Barcelona.
