Hamburger SV are reportedly planning to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart before Friday's transfer deadline.
Hamburg manager Thorsten Fink said last month that Van der Vaart would be an "ideal fit" for his side.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club's director of sport Frank Arnesen has refused to rule out a late bid for the 29-year-old.
According to the Daily Mail, Hamburg are hopeful that an offer of £9m will be sufficient to land the player and they intend to offer him a three-year contract.
Van der Vaart joined Spurs from Real Madrid for a fee of £8m in August 2010.
