Harry Kane 'could remain at Tottenham Hotspur for rest of his career'

Harry Kane reportedly has no intention of angling for a transfer from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, increasing his chances of penning a new contract.

Harry Kane may reportedly be persuaded to remain at Tottenham Hotspur in the long term, despite just two years remaining on his contract.

Although Kane spent loan periods at a number of clubs during the early part of his career, the England international has stayed loyal to Spurs.

That may have not been the case last year had Manchester City met the North London outfit's valuation of the forward, said to be well in excess of £100m.

However, that opportunity has now closed. City have signed Erling Braut Haaland and Julian Alvarez, with no other club realistically in a position to sign the 28-year-old for Spurs' asking price.

According to the Daily Mail, Kane may make the decision to see out the next phase of his career at Spurs.

The report points to the influence of Antonio Conte potentially being a deciding factor, Spurs improving considerably during the closing stages of 2021-22 to qualify for the Champions League.

From the start of March, Spurs collected 29 points from their remaining 13 Premier League fixtures, a return which was on par with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

A 3-2 victory at the latter and eventual champions preceded that run, and Kane is now said to be optimistic of finally winning trophies at the club.

Kane already boasts a return of 248 goals from 386 appearances in a Spurs shirt, putting him second in the all-time goalscorers list behind the late Jimmy Greaves, who netted 266.

Kane may have also been left enthusiastic about the club's current and potential business in the transfer market, with Ivan Perisic already a notable addition from Inter Milan on a free transfer.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster has also arrived from Southampton via the same method, leaving Antonio Conte to use a large transfer warchest on other players.

The Italian is targeting a new centre-back, midfielder and competition for Kane with Spurs having been provided with a cash boost in recent weeks.

Towards the end of the season, Kane also hinted that he was prepared to stay in North London, acknowledging that "the standard" had improved since his arrival in November. body check tags ::
