Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has reiterated the club's stance that midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is not for sale.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur to rejoin former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the Saints are standing firm on keeping the midfielder, who has made the situation "difficult" due to his reported desire to leave St Mary's.
"The situation is difficult, the player makes it difficult," Koeman said in a press conference. "I spoke to him with our chairman and the situation has not changed - we don't sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that.
"Tomorrow he is not in the squad. He said he is not physically and, even more, mentally prepared for tomorrow."
Southampton, who play a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow, have already sanctioned the sales of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Dejan Lovren.
