Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly considering a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen before the European transfer window slams shut at the start of next week.
Vertonghen has made close to 300 appearances for Spurs since joining the Premier League club from Ajax in 2012.
The 32-year-old has been out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign, though, with Davinson Sanchez operating alongside Toby Alderweireld in central defence.
According to Kicker, Leverkusen are eyeing a move for the Belgium international, who is reportedly keen to join the Bundesliga outfit before the deadline passes.
Vertonghen will see his current deal with Spurs expire at the end of the current season, while the same can also be said for the likes of Christian Eriksen and Alderweireld.
However, while Alderweireld has started the campaign as first choice at the back, both Vertonghen and Eriksen are seemingly not in Pochettino's preferred XI amid the uncertainty surrounding their futures.
Leverkusen were also linked with a swoop for Liverpool's Dejan Lovren earlier this month.
