Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain reportedly met with agent Mino Raiola in February to discuss a summer move for Borussia Dortmund centre-forward Erling Braut Haaland.
The 21-year-old has again been in impressive form for BVB during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 23 goals and registering six assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
Haaland will have a £67m release clause in his contract this summer, and he is widely expected to leave the German club, with a host of sides in the hunt for his signature.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain all continue to be linked with the striker, but recent reports have claimed that Man City are now leading the race for his signature.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man City director Begiristain had a meeting with Haaland's agent Raiola last month to discuss a summer transfer.
The Citizens are believed to have dropped their interest in Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane to focus on signing the Dortmund forward during this summer's transfer window.
Haaland has scored 80 goals and registered 21 assists in 79 appearances for BVB since joining the club from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. body check tags ::
