Fiorentina director Joe Barone has revealed that the Italian club are on the verge of signing in-demand centre-forward Dusan Vlahovic to a new contract.
The 21-year-old scored 21 Serie A goals last season and has also made an impressive start to the 2021-22 campaign, find the back of the net on six occasions in seven appearances.
Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with the Serbia international over the summer, and both clubs are still believed to be keen on acquiring him in 2022.
However, according to Barone, La Viola are preparing to sign the striker to a new contract, and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there could be a release clause in the agreement.
"We've all set to extend Dusan Vlahovic contract. There will be a new meeting to complete the agreement - but we're ready to give him a new contract," Barone told reporters.
Vlahovic has scored 35 goals and registered four assists in 91 appearances for Fiorentina since joining the Serie A outfit from Partizan Belgrade in 2018.
