Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is allegedly confident that Toby Alderweireld will extend his stay at the North London outfit.
After frequent speculation regarding his future, Alderweireld now has less than a year remaining on his contract, which provides him with an opportunity to speak with foreign clubs in January.
However, according to football.london, Spurs and Mourinho are eager for the Belgium international to sign fresh terms in the coming weeks.
The report suggests that Mourinho is confident of getting a deal over the line, with the Portuguese having previously been interested in signing Alderweireld during his time at Manchester United.
The 30-year-old, who has been at Spurs since 2015, is said to be settled in England's capital and is not openly looking to move on next summer.
Alderweireld has started both of Mourinho's opening two matches in charge, helping the team to victories over West Ham United and Olympiacos.
