Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly made contact with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric over a potential return to North London.
The 35-year-old spent four years at Tottenham between 2008 and 2012 before leaving for Mourinho's Real Madrid, and Modric has remained a key player for the La Liga champions this season.
The Croatia international has already turned out 19 times for Los Blancos in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign, although Modric is about to enter the final six months of his Bernabeu deal.
According to Spanish programme El Chiringuito de Jugones, Mourinho is keen to reunite with the midfielder in the English capital and has already made contact over a potential summer move.
Modric is free to negotiate with other clubs from January onwards, although the veteran has previously affirmed that he is happy in Madrid and hopes to end his career with Los Blancos.
Modric chalked up 17 goals and 27 assists for Tottenham before heading to the Spanish capital eight years ago.
