Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly been informed by chairman Daniel Levy that the club have only set aside £10m to sign a new striker before Friday's transfer deadline.
Spurs have been linked with the likes of AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek and Real Sociedad's Willian Jose as they look to bring in a new forward following Harry Kane's injury blow.
However, according to The Sun, Levy has set a £10m limit, meaning that the London club have been priced out of deals for their two main targets Piatek and Willian Jose, leaving them without a number one option entering the latter stages of the window.
Lucas Moura has largely played through the middle in the absence of Kane, who will be on the sidelines until at least April having undergone a hamstring operation.
Tottenham have only won one of their last five Premier League matches and sit down in sixth position in the table, six points off fourth-placed Chelsea on the same number of matches.
Mourinho's side are next in action at home to the champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
