Speculation regarding the future of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has been described as "mischief" by the club's sporting director.
The 25-year-old has recently been linked with moves to fellow Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
However, Dan Ashworth has accused the player's agent of causing the uncertainty.
"I think we saw the same comments last year. It seems like there are some agents trying to play a bit of mischief," Ashworth told the Express & Star.
"Once again, we have had no contact from anybody regarding Youssouf. I think people pry on the fact that the players are away on holiday or back home so cannot defend themselves.
"There are always rumours at this time of the year but nothing serious, as far as I'm aware."
Mulumbu's contract at the Hawthorns is due to expire in 2015.
