Newcastle United are reportedly interested in securing a season-long loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon.
With little chance of a takeover being completed in the coming weeks, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce faces the prospect of being restricted in the transfer market.
According to The Sun, the lack of positive developments behind the scenes at St James' Park has led to Bruce targeting the signing of Sessegnon.
The 20-year-old has been limited to just nine starts and three substitute outings this season, none of which came after the resumption of action in June.
Despite the left-sided player's minimal game time, Jose Mourinho allegedly regards the former Fulham man as an important part of his squad going forward.
That stance is said to have resulted in Barcelona failing to make any progress with an enquiry last month.
