Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still keen to sign Pedro Porro, who has missed Sporting Lisbon training after reports emerged that the transfer had collapsed.
Spurs appeared to be on the verge of signing Porro after they reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Sporting on Saturday.
Porro was told by Sporting president Frederico Varandas that he would be allowed to leave the club following Saturday's Portuguese League Cup final, which they ultimately lost 2-0 to Porto.
The 23-year-old bid farewell to the Sporting supporters after the final defeat, clapping towards the supporters and tapping the Sporting badge on his shirt.
There was an expectation that Porro would fly to England on Monday to put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year deal.
However, it has since emerged that the transfer is off, after Sporting changed the terms of the agreement.
While Porro has reportedly been left "distraught" by the news, Tottenham have not given up hope of completing a deal.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Spurs and Sporting are currently in discussions as the North London club attempt to salvage the transfer.
The report also claimed that Porro did not take part in training on Monday, with the Spaniard pushing to join Antonio Conte's side.
Although the Tottenham boss can call upon the likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, neither player has nailed down the right-wing back spot.
Djed Spence joined from Middlesbrough in the summer, but he is yet to start a competitive game for Tottenham and has been restricted to six appearances.
Following his lack of playing time, Spence is expected to leave the club on a loan deal before the transfer window closes.
As a result of their issues on the right side, Tottenham identified Porro as one of their main transfer targets after being impressed by his performances for Sporting.
In 26 competitive appearances this season, Porro has scored three goals and provided 11 assists for Ruben Amorim's side.
Porro has also played the duration of both of Sporting's Champions League group games against Spurs earlier this season, with the Portuguese giants winning 2-0 at home and drawing 1-1 in North London. body check tags ::
