Report: European clubs eye David Bentley

A report claims that Espanyol and FC Utrecht have emerged as the favourites to sign former Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley this summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley has emerged as a reported transfer target for Spanish outfit Espanyol and Dutch side FC Utrecht.

The 28-year-old, who is currently a free agent after leaving Spurs at the end of last season, spent the second part of the previous campaign on loan with Blackburn Rovers.

A number of Championship clubs have been linked with his services, but according to Sky Sports News, the former England international favours a move abroad.

Bentley has previously played in Russia with FC Rostov.
