Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly told Inter Milan that defender Jan Vertonghen is not for sale in the January transfer window.
The Belgian, who moved to North London in 2012, is out of contract at the end of this season and remains undecided over his future.
Reports have claimed that Inter, having made inquiries for Vertonghen in the summer, will once again launch a bid to sign the defender next year.
According to The Guardian, Inter will look to strike a deal for Vertonghen in the next summer transfer window after being told by Spurs that he is not available in January.
Spurs plan to offer the 32-year-old fresh terms but are highly unlikely to countenance the three-year package set to be tabled by Inter in June.
Toby Alderweireld, another Spurs defender out of contract in the summer, has also attracted interest from Italy, with the Belgian reportedly holding talks with Roma.
