Steven Bergwijn has edged closer to the exit door at Tottenham Hotspur due to Ivan Perisic's impending arrival, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Perisic has reportedly agreed a deal to move on a free transfer from Inter Milan upon the expiration of his contract in June, with a decision potentially being revealed on Monday.
As a result, Bergwijn could move further down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he struggled to feature in the 2021-22 campaign, particularly under Antonio Conte.
The 24-year-old's former club Ajax were interested in taking Bergwijn back to the Netherlands in the January transfer window, but no move materialised.
However, according to transfer expert Romano, the Dutch club remain interested in a move for Bergwijn this summer, although several other clubs hold an interest in a move for the winger.
Tweeting from his official Twitter account on Sunday, Romano said: "There are serious chances for Steven Bergwijn to leave Tottenham in the summer, as Perisic is joining the club too. The plan is still the same.
"Ajax have his name in the list since January but there are many clubs interested in him, race still open."
After coming through the academy in Amsterdam, Bergwijn made the move to PSV aged just 13, before he was sold to Spurs for around £27m in January 2020, where he has gone on to score just eight goals in 83 appearances across all competitions. body check tags ::
