Real Madrid are reportedly huge admirers of Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven but would not be prepared to pay the North London club's valuation of the centre-back.
The 23-year-old made the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the summer of 2023, and he has made 40 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, scoring three goals and registering two assists in the process.
Injuries have restricted the Netherlands international to just 11 appearances this term, though, with the defender struggling to overcome a hamstring problem.
Van de Ven has only played once in the Premier League since the end of October, returning against Chelsea earlier this month, but he was unable to complete that contest and has been sidelined since.
When available, Van de Ven has proven himself to be one of the best defenders in the Premier League, but Tottenham have not been able to use the Dutchman anywhere near as much as they would have wanted to this term.
Real Madrid 'keen on Spurs defender Van de Ven'
According to Relevo, Real Madrid are huge admirers of Van de Ven and view him as 'the perfect fit' considering his qualities.
However, Los Blancos are not believed to be planning a move at this moment in time, with Spurs pricing him out of a switch to Bernabeu.
Tottenham's price tag has not been mentioned, but he is valued at £46m by transfermarkt, and it would be a huge surprise if the North London club considered offers of less than that amount considering his qualities.
Van de Ven will once again be absent when Spurs continue their Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, with Tottenham having huge fitness problems at the back.
Why do Real Madrid want another centre-back?
David Alaba is set to make his return from a serious knee injury next month, but the Austria international has not played for more than a year, and it will take him time to return to his best form.
Eder Militao is out for the remainder of the campaign with an ACL issue of his own, meaning that Aurelien Tchouameni has been pressed into action alongside Antonio Rudiger in the middle of the defence.
Bringing in a new centre-back is viewed as a priority for Real Madrid next summer due to their issues in the middle of the defence, and Van de Ven certainly fits the brief considering his age and skillset.
However, it is difficult to imagine Real Madrid coming up with the type of offer that would convince Spurs to let him leave. body check tags ::
