Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Emerson Royal from Barcelona.
The 22-year-old initially joined the Catalan giants from Atletico Mineiro in January 2019 before being sent straight out to Real Betis, where he would spend the next two and a half years.
Emerson made a name for himself at Betis with five goals and 10 assists in 79 appearances, but the South American was facing competition from Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto for the right-back spot at Barcelona.
Tottenham were rumoured to be plotting a late swoop for the defender, and the Lilywhites confirmed on Tuesday evening that a deal until 2026 - subject to international clearance - has been completed.
Emerson is set to sport the number 12 shirt at Tottenham and follows Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil and Pape Sarr to the club during a busy summer of spending for Tottenham.
The two-cap Brazil international made three La Liga appearances in the 2021-22 season for Barcelona before joining Spurs, who have reportedly coughed up €25m (£21.5m) to secure his signature.
