Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Adam Idah to Celtic, Matty Cash to AC Milan and Bobby Decordova-Reid to Leicester City.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have reportedly failed with an opening bid for Norwich City striker Adam Idah.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan with Brendan Rodgers's side and made a massive impact with nine goals and two assists from 19 games in all competitions.

Idah struck seven goals in just 10 Premiership appearances before the Top Six/Bottom Six split, and the Bhoys are determined to convert his loan into a permanent stay.

However, BBC Sport claims that Celtic have already been knocked back by Norwich, who have turned down an opening proposal between £4m and £5m from their Scottish counterparts.

The Canaries reportedly have no intention of letting Idah leave the club for good this summer, as new head coach Johannes Thorup believes that he can develop into an integral player next season.

Idah has scored 17 goals and set up four more in 115 appearances for Norwich, and his Carrow Road contract does not expire until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Matty Cash 'unlikely' to earn AC Milan move

Sticking with the theme of players now considered unlikely to leave their current clubs, Matty Cash's proposed move from Aston Villa to AC Milan is supposedly now off the cards.

The Rossoneri were believed to be pushing to sign the Poland international in a deal worth at least £20m after he failed to become an undisputed starter for Unai Emery last season.

Cash's proposed sale would have also boosted Villa's coffers at a crucial time, but the June 30 financial deadline has now passed, and the Lions have already sold Tim Iroegbunam, Omari Kellyman, Douglas Luiz and Morgan Sanson this summer.

As a result, Calciomercato claims that Cash is no longer Milan's priority for a new right-back signing, especially as Villa are demanding between €35m (£29.7m) and €40m (£33.9m) to let him depart.

Instead, the Italian giants have switched their focus to Tottenham Hotspur's Emerson Royal, and they have already reached an agreement in principle over a contract with the former Barcelona man.

As a result, Cash is looking increasingly likely to stay at Villa, where he boasts nine goals and 10 assists from 142 games since making the move from Nottingham Forest in 2020.

Philippe Coutinho 'on verge' of Brazil return

Unlike Cash, Philippe Coutinho's time at Villa Park is seemingly nearing an end, as the ex-Liverpool and Barcelona man is understood to be closing in on a return to his native Brazil.

The 32-year-old is now due back in Birmingham following a season-long loan spell with Qatari side Al-Duhail SC, where he amassed a respectable seven goals and three assists in 22 matches.

Coutinho is not part of Emery's plans moving forward, though, and a sale this summer is seen as inevitable before he enters the final 18 or 12 months of his contract with the Champions League side.

According to The Telegraph - via the Liverpool Echo - Coutinho will soon seal a return to boyhood club Vasco da Gama, whom he represented from 1999 to 2010, but it will only be a loan move at first.

The Brazil international was sold to Inter Milan by Vasco in 2008, but he was loaned back out to the South American outfit for two seasons, scoring once and setting up three goals in 19 senior appearances.

Coutinho has since scored six goals and provided three assists in 43 matches for Villa, who paid €20m (£16.9m) to sign him permanently from Barcelona in 2022 following a successful loan spell.

Leicester City 'closing in' on Bobby Decordova-Reid signing

Finally, Fulham stalwart Bobby Decordova-Reid could soon be on the way out of Craven Cottage, as the 31-year-old is understood to be closing in on a move to Premier League new boys Leicester City.

The Jamaica international - who has just finished representing his country at the Copa America - is now officially a free agent after his previous contract with Fulham expired at the end of June.

The Cottagers are said to have offered Decordova-Reid a new deal, but he rejected the chance to extend his stay at Fulham, whom he has represented for five years since his initial loan move from Cardiff City.

According to talkSPORT, the Jamaican is now on the cusp of joining Leicester as a free agent, and he is expected to complete his medical with the Foxes over the weekend.

Decordova-Reid will leave Fulham having amassed 32 goals and 18 assists in 209 games for Marco Silva's side, including seven goals and four assists from 41 matches in all tournaments last term.

The 31-year-old will become the Foxes' second permanent signing of the Steve Cooper era, as winger Abdul Fatawu has confirmed that he will be staying after his loan deal from Sporting Lisbon. body check tags ::
