Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly regarded as the favourites to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.
On the same day that it was confirmed that Wolves would not earn European football for next season, reports on Sunday also indicated that Ruben Neves is increasingly likely to leave Molineux this summer.
With Joao Moutinho due to turn 36 years of age in September, it potentially leaves Wolves needing to sign at least two central midfielders during the upcoming transfer window.
According to A Bola, Wolves remain the 'main favourite' to sign Palhinha, despite growing interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The report says that the 26-year-old is seemingly certain to depart Sporting in search of a fresh challenge with the Portuguese outfit ready to demand at least £17m.
Much may depend on whether Spurs qualify for Champions League football, but Palhinha would be regarded as a certain starter at Wolves should he make the transfer to the West Midlands.
