St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has praised the young side he selected against Partick Thistle, which ran out 2-0 winners.
Goals from David Mackay and Steven Anderson secured the points for the Saints, and their coach believes that making an early breakthrough was crucial to the victory.
"We started well and got a really good goal, although it took a deflection," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.
"When you've lost a couple of games it's important you start well. So there's a huge emphasis on starting well.
"I was really pleased with some of the younger players. We know if we keep winning games we'll stay in the top six. We have to keep our standards up."
The result helped the Saints consolidate their position in the top six of the division, while Partick are down in ninth.
