Steaua Bucuresti manager Mirel Radoi has been banned from issuing instructions to his players during matches.
Radoi, 34, has been given a touchline ban by UEFA because he does not have the necessary coaching licence. He is still allowed to sit on the bench for domestic matches providing he does not communicate with the team.
Radoi, who replaced Constantin Galca as Steaua boss in May, was officially appointed as the club's sporting director, but he was on the bench for the Champions League preliminary rounds against against AS Trencin and Partizan Belgrade.
"We should not have told the truth," said Steaua owner Gigi Becali, according to BBC Sport. "We should have just said that Radoi is the technical director.
"Radoi does not need to be on the bench. He will stay next to me, in the VIP box."
Romania's football federation said that he would be banned for up to six matches if he violates the ruling.
