Stevenage have revealed that they are talking to Peterborough about the possibility of signing striker Nicky Ajose.
The 20-year-old has been on trial at the club for the past week, featuring in 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Stevenage boss Gary Smith has said that talks are going on "behind the scenes", but insisted that the former Manchester youth product is still a Peterborough player.
"Nicky has come in for us to have a look at him from Peterborough. He's still under contract at Peterborough," said Smith.
"There may be something we can do there in terms of a deal but that'll be going on behind the scenes with the chairman."
Ajose, who left Manchester United for Peterborough in 2011, is currently on the transfer list.
