Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Jack Rodwell from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old joined City in the summer of 2012 from Everton for a fee of £12m, but a succession of injuries restricted the number of appearances that he was able to make for the champions.
The arrival of Fernando from Porto earlier this summer had limited his starting opportunities even further, which brought about the interest from the Black Cats.
He arrived on Wearside yesterday for a medical and following discussions over personal terms, the three-capped England international has agreed a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Rodwell turned out on 26 occasions for City, during which time he scored two goals.
