Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng feels that side were able to match Hull City's physicality to secure a 1-0 win at the KC Stadium.
The Swans responded from losing back-to-back games in the top flight as Ki deflected Jonjo Shelvey's strike past Allan McGregor.
"This type of game is always tough. It wasn't pretty, we didn't play too well but we deserved the three points," Ki told the club's official website.
"Against Hull last year we lost 1-0 and we didn't match their physicality. This time we prepared very well and created a lot of chances too.
"This win lifts us up the table and does our confidence some good after having lost the last two games. We have three massive games coming up, so this was the perfect result for us."
Swansea are eighth in the Premier League table, with 25 points from their 17 matches this season.
